Last week I was feeling on top of the world.
I felt like I was making fantastic progress.
This week I am frightened that I won't be able to complete even the shortest distances each day.
If I don't and run out of steam will I be failing myself?
Will we have wasted all that money?
I guess only time will tell.
What I do know is that throughout this ordeal I have managed to lose 51 pounds to date.
My energy level has increased dramatically. My arthritic left knee has gotten stronger and I can almost see my facial cheek bones.
I am scared and excited.
Every day I am on the bike and most days I try to make a spin class in the evening when I don't have to cover a meeting or event.
I am, not sure there is more that I can do.
Tomorrow, Les and I will be going for a 25-mile ride and then the reward will be lunch at a new vegetarian restaurant in Chester.
The countdown has begun for the Big Ride.
Turning 60 has been tough and a change was needed. Bridget Albert is on a mission to get into shape for a four-day bicycle trip in Vermont. Her Gt. Dane Baxter has offered to run along side of her. This, should be interesting.

I am finally beginning to make some progress
These days you can find me at the gym four to five days a week.
I am increasing my time on the treadmill and elliptical trainer. In addition to increasing the time I am also increasing the resistance which makes the task even more difficult.
I am almost ready to begin to hit the open road. It scares me to share the space with vehicles.
A while back I wrote a story about road rage and bicyclists. I interviewed an expert cyclist who told me some scary stories.
I am also trying to find an older Jeep Wrangler to buy for the dogs and my bike. I figure it will be easier to put my bike on a rack on the back of the Jeep than into the bed of the Cherokee.
